Job summary

The Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory in Laurel, MD is seeking an entry‑level analyst to support the technical evaluation of the nation’s primary strategic deterrents. You will join a multidisciplinary team of engineers, physicists, and mathematicians who are passionate about independent evaluation and learning.

Mentorship by world‑class experts will help you grow into a specialist in physics‑based modeling and statistical inference, with opportunities to contribute to testing

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Applied Math, Applied Statistics, Engineering required.
  • Strong skills in C++, MATLAB, or Python.
  • Solid grasp of linear algebra, calculus, and basic probability.
  • Willing to obtain interim Secret clearance by start date and eligibility for Top Secret.
  • U.S. citizenship is required for access to classified information.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and refine high-fidelity physics models of complex systems.
  • Process real-world data from tests to identify model discrepancies.
  • Design experiments and determine data needed to validate physics hypotheses.
  • Develop accuracy requirements and evaluate progress during system development.
  • Build and automate data analysis software in C++, MATLAB, or Python.
  • Document findings and contribute to technical reports.
