Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification required in the state where employed.
• Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• High School Diploma or GED

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures and explains venipuncture process clearly and courteously.
• Demonstrates technique using straight or butterfly needles and ensures 100% correct test requisitions.
• Packages specimens for transport and ensures proper labeling, temperatures and storage as required by protocol.
