Job summary
Sargent & Lundy is seeking an entry-level Structural Engineer in Warrenville, IL, to apply materials knowledge, structural analysis, and design of steel frames and concrete components. You will join a multidisciplinary team addressing nuclear facility design, plant improvements, and related modifications.
You will receive training and mentorship from senior engineers and may travel to client sites for reviews.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s of Science in Structural/Civil Engineering with strong background in material behavior, analysis, steel and reinforced concrete design
- Completion of coursework in steel and concrete design
- Knowledge of practical application of structural engineering including loads analysis for supports and design integrity
- Understanding of applying principles and procedures to a project design
- Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and drawings/models production
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency with MS Office applications
Responsibilities
- Apply knowledge of materials, structural analysis, steel design, and reinforced concrete design
- Prepare design calculations, develop specifications, and support drawing development
- Perform structural analysis and design of steel frames, connections, concrete members, and supports
- Conduct structural analyses including wind and seismic loads
- Receive training and mentorship from experienced engineers
- Travel to client/vendor sites for design reviews and coordination
