Naval Nuclear Laboratory seeks an entry-level nuclear engineer to contribute to next generation reactor core design. The FDP team leads conceptual efforts for Navy submarine reactors, focusing on neutronics, thermal performance, shielding, and overall plant behavior.

You will collaborate across nuclear design, thermal analysis, shielding, and reactor performance groups to develop models and ensure safe, capable designs.

Qualifications

• Bachelors or Masters in Nuclear Engineering or Physics required.
• GPA 3.2+ preferred.
• Experience with MATLAB or Python for post-processing.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate neutronic behavior, thermal performance, shielding design, or primary plant performance.
• Collaborate with nuclear design, thermal analysis, shielding, and reactor performance groups.
• Develop analysis models and run comprehensive evaluations for safe deployment.
