Naval Nuclear Laboratory seeks an entry-level nuclear engineer or physicist to contribute to next generation reactor core design within the Future Development Programs department. You will apply your nuclear engineering education to neutronics, thermal performance, shielding, and primary plant operation concepts, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

The role emphasizes developing analysis models, evaluating design options, and supporting safe deployment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nuclear Engineering or Physics from an accredited college or university.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Interest in core design, neutronics, heat transfer, and reactor performance.
• Experience with MATLAB or Python for post-processing results is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to next generation reactor core design within FDP.
• Evaluate neutronic behavior, thermal performance, shielding design, and primary plant performance.
• Assess how new design concepts can improve performance and safety of naval reactors.
• Collaborate with design, thermal analysis, shielding, and reactor performance groups to ensure coherent outcomes.
