Naval Nuclear Laboratory is seeking an engineer for the Core Thermal Design unit to support the Columbia Class submarine program. The role emphasizes thermal performance, reactor hydraulics, and collaborative design work across manufacturing and materials groups.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering or related science, with coursework in heat transfer, fluid flow, and nuclear engineering, plus experience with computer simulations and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related engineering or science field; or Masters degree from an accredited college or university in a related engineering or science field.

Responsabilités

• Design, manufacture, and deploy the reactor core for the Columbia Class submarine with a focus on thermal performance and reactor hydraulics.
• Conduct computer simulations, materials evaluation, design reviews, operations support, safety analyses and assessment of manufacturing procedures and systems.
• Collaborate closely with design teams, core manufacturing, and materials and fluids technology groups to drive improvements in thermal hydraulic methods and design procedures.
