Job summary

The Industrial Company (TIC) invites applications for an entry-level craft assistant on a construction/industrial site in Louisiana. Assist skilled craftsmen, learn to use hand and power tools, and help with measuring, aligning, and installation under supervision.

You will support with inventory reviews, foundation prep, rigging, testing installed machinery, and moving equipment; safety rules and cooperation with crew are essential. Some overtime and physical work required.

Qualifications

• May require a high school diploma or its equivalent with previous years of experience in the field or in a related area.
• Must possess knowledge skills and abilities for position
• Ability to pass pre-access drug and alcohol testing, fit for duty medical.
• Observe and comply with all safety and project rules, perform other duties as required.

Responsibilities

• Learn to use hand and power tools to properly measure, cut, assemble and align machinery and install all other items
• Assist with reviewing and verifying inventory of equipment/machine components; checking accuracy of line and grade of existing foundation; prepare foundation for grouting and/or machinery placement; establishing and use centerlines and bench marks; establishing proper elevation of subsole and sole plates; set and aligning machine components; mix and place all types of grout
• Assist skilled craftsman when they torque equipment and machinery; properly rig equipment and direct crane operators on placement of same. Test all installed machinery and equipment and make all necessary adjustments and/or repairs, if any
• Assist with dismantling machines using hammers, wrenches, crowbars and other hand tools; moving machinery and equipment using hoist, dollies, rollers and trucks
• Assist with the assembly and installation of equipment; aligning machines and equipment using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, micrometers and plumb bobs; assembling machines and attaching them to foundations or other structures according to project specifications
