Job summary

Arkansas Children's is seeking a Patient Financial Services Specialist to analyze accounts and pursue appropriate payments from guarantors. Qualifications

• Analyzes guarantor accounts to ensure proper billing.
• Explains Medicaid and payment options to families.
• Works within hospital debt collection policies and procedures.
• Provides prompt, courteous responses to inquiries from patients and guarantors.
• Encourages self-pay payments and offers payment plans when appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Collects money from guarantors for amounts they are personally responsible for paying.
• Acts in compliance with applicable collection laws and hospital policies.
• Analyzes guarantor balances to ensure proper assignment and uses insurance knowledge to prorate amounts.
• Asks key questions to identify other payer sources or programs (Medicaid, ARKids, etc.).
• Seeks full payment using professional collection skills and communicates complex information clearly.
• Suggests payment plans or prompt pay discounts to maximize collections without harming families.
• Maximizes self-pay collections and expedites payments while showing care for guarantor and child.
• Uses strong organizational and prioritization skills to manage high volumes of accounts and follow-up.
• Provides prompt, accurate, and courteous responses to customer questions about their accounts.
• Communicates by telephone, written, and face-to-face to respond to inquiries.
• Utilizes broad medical reimbursement knowledge to resolve needs.
• Uses problem-solving and interpersonal skills to resolve issues.
• Encourages payment of self-pay debt when appropriate.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
