Job summary

Amentum is seeking an entry-level Mechanical Engineer based in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, to design and coordinate building mechanical systems for industrial and government facilities. You will oversee HVAC, plumbing, and piping designs and lead mechanical engineering teams to ensure technical quality and regulatory compliance.

You will collaborate with project management, discipline leads, and clients to deliver fully coordinated, code-compliant engineering solutions in line with Amentum’s quality

Qualifications

• B.S. Mechanical Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• Experience with HVAC, plumbing, and piping design tools.
• Knowledge of International Mechanical Code, NFPA, ASHRAE, ASME.

Responsibilities

• Design HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems including process piping.
• Serve as technical authority for mechanical design within project scope.
• Review, approve, and check engineering calculations, layouts, specifications, and drawings.
• Coordinate mechanical designs with structural, electrical, architectural, and process disciplines.
• Provide senior-level support during procurement and construction phases, including RFIs and submittals.
