Job summary

Amentum seeks a Senior Specialty Mechanical Equipment Engineer for our Nuclear Projects – Oak Ridge Group in Oak Ridge, TN. The ideal candidate has 15+ years’ experience and is proficient with SOLIDWORKS, Creo, and ANSYS, focusing on complex machinery design and project scope, schedule, and budget management.

The role involves office-based work with possible hybrid/remote arrangements, occasional travel, and site visits. US citizenship is required to support DOE engagements.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience in specialty mechanical equipment.
• B.S. in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Experience with specialized mechanical equipment and with managing scope, schedule, and budget.
• Follow established quality procedures (ISO 9000 or NQA-1).
• Knowledge of machine design, machine elements and machine controls.
• Mentor specialty mechanical engineers and designers.
• Ability to communicate complex ideas to management and clients.
• Create and review complex mechanical calculations.
• Competence with SOLIDWORKS, Creo, ANSYS.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Intermittent sitting, walking, standing, lifting up to 20 lbs, and occasional travel.
• Occasional site visits and work near construction equipment.
• Occasional exposure to hazardous materials; work in secure engineering environment.
• Hybrid or remote work may be available by prior agreement based on role and project requirements.
