Job summary

Duke Energy is hiring for a Line Apprentice position across multiple North Carolina locations to learn and support the distribution system operations. You will study the day-to-day responsibilities, safety rules, and required equipment handling, with on-call duties as needed to support outages and emergencies.

Hourly pay starts at $28.42, with on-site work across several centers. Applicants must be within commuting distance of a listed facility and have a high school diploma or GED plus a valid

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Residency restriction: must live within 40 minutes of assigned site and relocate within 12 months if required.

Responsibilities

• Installs and repairs electrical equipment such as street lighting and load control devices.
• Constructs overhead and underground distribution lines per engineering specs, including pole setting and transformer work.
• Installs equipment such as transformers, capacitors, regulators, meters and street lights.
• Maintains and repairs equipment; performs preventive maintenance with test equipment like volt/amp meters.
• Responds to trouble calls when service is interrupted and supports outage restoration.
• Represents Duke Energy positively and works safely according to company procedures.
