Job summary

The Miraval journey is about creating a life in balance, healing the whole self, and engaging in the present moment. The Cook 1 position prepares, mise en place and needed ingredients for soups, vegetables and meats on the line or pantry under supervision by the Sous Chef or Executive Chef.

You will learn safety protocols and proper handling of tools and equipment in a fast-paced kitchen. Based in Tucson, AZ at Miraval Arizona Resort and Spa, the role offers hands-on experience in a resort

Qualifications

• Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Must be able to read, understand and carry-out recipes and have basic understanding of math as it relates to recipes and conversions.
• Strong culinary skills and a minimum of 1 year in a professional kitchen. High school education or equivalent is preferred.
• Effective communication skills, oral & written.
• Able to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Checklists for opening and closing as per the chef’s instructions.
• Reading all reports concerning station as supervisor instructs.
• Understanding all cooking techniques recipe require.
• Use and safety of all equipment and the proper cleaning of all equipment and area.
• Proper ingredient use
• Understanding recipes and following method properly
• Must follow the safety, health and sanitation rules that apply to the kitchen and F&B department.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by the Chef or immediate supervisors.
• Maintains a neat, clean and orderly work area.
