Job summary

AtkinsRéalis seeks an entry-level ITS and Traffic Engineer for our Houston, TX team. Design plans for traffic signals, illumination, and ITS components while supporting investigations, cost estimates, and quality control.

Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering (ABET-accredited) is required. OpenRoads Designer or MicroStation experience is preferred, with a focus on collaboration and professional growth within a global network.

Qualifications

• Basic computer skills to enter data into spreadsheets or databases.
• Math skills to perform simple calculations; willingness to learn.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Experience with OpenRoads Designer or MicroStation (preferred).
• Proficient interpersonal and communications skills.
• Capability to develop technical writings and reports.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop plans and drawings for ITS/Traffic design and studies including traffic signals, highway illumination, signing and pavement marking.
• Organize and conduct engineering investigations and planning work with well-defined scope.
• Provide engineering services during construction by reviewing shop drawings and observing procedures under guidance.
• Contribute to development of specifications and permit applications and prepare estimates of man-hours, cost and materials.
• Participate in quality control checks and review designs and drawings for accuracy.
