Job summary

VELCO - Vermont Electric Power Company in Rutland, VT is seeking an entry-level IT Support Technician I to provide exceptional user support and ensure reliable IT operations. The role is on-site, Monday–Friday, 7:30am–4:30pm, serving a mission-driven energy infrastructure.

You will create AD accounts, image laptops, install software (Mathcad, AutoCAD, Bluebeam), troubleshoot issues, onboard new hires, and help streamline IT processes while maintaining confidentiality and security best practices.

Qualifications

• Associates degree preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• CompTIA A+ or related IT certifications desirable.

Responsibilities

• Create and manage user accounts in Active Directory with appropriate access.
• Image and deploy laptops with consistent software configurations.
• Install and configure software per user needs including Mathcad, AutoCAD, Bluebeam.
• Troubleshoot user issues and provide timely solutions.
• Assist onboarding of new employees ensuring IT access and resources.
• Collaborate to improve IT processes and introduce new procedures.
• Manage printers: inventory, supplies, and vendor reporting.
• Create and maintain knowledge base articles and guides.
• Wipe and prepare laptops for donation or disposal with proper data sanitization.
• Research user requests and propose solutions.
• Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive situations professionally.
