Job summary

Applied Optoelectronics, Inc. is seeking an on-site IT Help Desk Specialist to join our Sugar Land/Pearland team.

You will be the first line of assistance for employees, resolving Windows and MS 365 issues and handling account administration in AD and Entra ID. The role requires hands-on hardware support, strong communication, and the ability to work face-to-face with colleagues during typical business hours.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of experience in IT help desk or desktop support.
• Troubleshoot Windows OS and core Microsoft 365 apps (Outlook/Teams/Excel).
• Hands-on familiarity with AD and Entra ID account administration.
• Basic hardware, Wi‑Fi, Ethernet, and VPN troubleshooting knowledge.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with nontechnical users.

Responsibilities

• Provide timely, customer-focused technical support onsite, over the phone, and via ticketing system.
• Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain Windows devices and peripherals.
• Troubleshoot Microsoft 365 issues and guide users to solutions.
• Assist with AD/Entra ID user accounts and password resets per IT procedures.
• Manage tickets from intake to resolution and escalate when needed.
• Prepare workstations for new hires and verify equipment readiness.
• Troubleshoot network connectivity issues and coordinate with IT for escalation.
• Create and update knowledge base articles and user guides.
