Job summary

BGE, Inc. in Frisco, TX is seeking a Junior Instrumentation and Controls Engineer who supports the delivery of instrumentation, control, and automation solutions for energy services projects.

You will assist with field instrumentation, PLC/DCS systems, SCADA, telemetry, metering, and panel design, under the guidance of senior staff. This entry-level role emphasizes learning through mentorship, developing calculations and drawings, and contributing to safe, reliable, and cost-effective energy

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Control Systems Engineering.
• FE exam by graduation (eligible).
• 0–2 years in instrumentation and controls engineering.
• Coursework knowledge of process measurement, control loops, and PID.
• Exposure to PLC/DCS/SCADA/HMI and industrial networks.
• Familiarity with codes/standards (NFPA/IEEE/ISA).
• Experience with AutoCAD/AutoCAD Electrical/Revit/SmartPlant Instrumentation.
• Strong written and verbal communication; able to work in plant/field environments.

Responsibilities

• Assist with instrumentation and controls design and deliverables for energy projects.
• Prepare instrument indices, datasheets, loop diagrams, P&ID markups, wiring, and panel layouts.
• Support sizing calculations for flow, level, pressure, and temperature; assist with network layouts.
• Learn control system architecture and protocol selection (e.g., HART, Modbus, Profibus).
• Draft control narratives, technical reports, and project deliverables for review.
• Perform self-checks and assist with QA reviews to ensure standards compliance.
• Support FAT, loop checks, calibration, commissioning, and startup under supervision.
• Communicate with project teams, vendors, and clients; participate in meetings and note-taking.
• Grow technical knowledge via mentorship, training, and field exposure.
• Contribute to proposals and continuous improvement of standards and templates.
