Job summary

UniFirst is seeking a reliable Maintenance Technician I to join our Norwalk CA operation. You will perform repairs, maintenance, installation and troubleshooting of industrial equipment, systems, and components on a Monday–Friday schedule with occasional overtime.

You will use hand and power tools, read blueprints, and follow manuals and safety procedures. On-the-job training and opportunities for career growth are provided within UniFirst’s growing organization.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
Two-year technical degree preferred.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record required.
Knowledgeable in maintenance equipment.
Minimum of 6 months’ work experience repairing industrial processing equipment.
Must pass UniFirst’s maintenance knowledge assessment test to be eligible for employment.
Ability to read blueprints and schematics required.
Ability to read maintenance literature printed in English required.
Basic computer and Microsoft Office skills required.
Lockout/Tagout experience required.
Ability to lift up to 80 lbs.

Responsibilities

Utilize hand/power tools, precision measurement tools, and electronic testing devices.
Ensure safe operation of machinery and related systems.
Follow blueprints, schematics, manuals and specifications.
Troubleshoot equipment problems using meters and tests.
Perform boiler chemical and wastewater testing and adjust chemicals as required.
Perform daily and weekly safety checks on boilers and repair as needed.
Record meter readings and take corrective actions.
Inspect, lubricate and replace worn parts as per procedures.
Use Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
