To be eligible for the first review, all required documents must be submitted and the written examination must be passed by July 31, 2026. Subsequent reviews will occur monthly.

Applicants must have a valid CPAT completed within 12 months of the written exam pass date. CPAT certifications from other agencies are accepted.

Requirements

Written Examination: Required.

Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT): Required.

PST Personal History Statement: Required within 7 days of passing the required exam(s).

Minimum Age: 18.

Citizenship/Authorization: Must be a citizen of the United States or otherwise have authorization to work in the United States. The District does not sponsor any immigration‑related benefits.

High School Graduate/GED: Required.

Driver's License: Valid Washington State Driver’s License.

Felony Convictions: Reviewed on a case‑by‑case basis.

English Proficiency: Must be able to read, speak, and write English.

Vision Standards: Must meet LEOFF II standards.

Veterans Preference: Points awarded.

EMT Certification: Required.

Prior Firefighter Experience: Required.

Prior EMT Experience: Desired.

Disqualifiers

Driving violations may result in disqualification.

Drug usage convictions may result in disqualification.

Felony convictions are disqualifiers.
