Job summary

Actalent is seeking an Entry-Level Field Technician in New London, CT to support field inspections, data collection, and coordination with engineers, surveyors, and construction teams on regional infrastructure projects.

This fully onsite role offers hands-on training, exposure to GPS, mapping, and reporting, with opportunities for growth in project management and field operations.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, Civil Engineering Technology, Surveying, Environmental Science, GIS or related field.
• Interest in field operations, construction, engineering, or infrastructure projects.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, drawings, and project documentation (preferred).
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
• Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Ability to travel locally to project sites.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do

What We're Looking For

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, Civil Engineering Technology, Surveying, Environmental Science, GIS, Geography, or a related field
• Strong interest in field operations, construction, engineering, or infrastructure projects
• Ability to read and interpret plans, drawings, and project documentation (preferred but not required)
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
• Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions
• Ability to travel locally to project sites
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation

Preferred Qualifications

• Internship, co-op, or hands-on experience in construction, surveying, engineering, architecture, or environmental projects
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, GIS, GPS equipment, surveying equipment, or construction drawings
• OSHA 10 certification (or willingness to obtain)
• Experience using tablets, mobile applications, or digital field reporting tools
• Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn technical equipment

Pay & Benefits

Job Type & Location

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $40.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
