Job summary

S&ME is seeking an Entry-Level Construction Materials Engineering Technician to join our Construction Services team in Greenville, South Carolina. This hands-on role starts outdoors, testing concrete and expanding to soils, asphalt, and masonry as you gain skills.

You will perform field and lab tests, document results, and grow toward certifications through ACI and ICC. This is a full-time, safety-focused position with travel to project sites as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Commitment to learning and growing technical skills.
• Strong work ethic and reliability.
• Excellent English communication (spoken and written).
• Basic math skills and metric/imperial unit understanding.
• Willingness to travel and adapt to a fluctuating schedule.
• Valid U.S. driver's license with acceptable record.
• Ability to operate company vehicles and PPE safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Sample and test concrete, then expand to soils, asphalt, and masonry as skills grow.
• Perform field and lab tests, maintain equipment, and report results accurately.
• Inspect in accordance with IBC codes and document findings.
• Manage data using Metafield and support project completeness.
