Job summary

State of Nebraska Health & Human Services – Agency 25 in Seward, NE is hiring an Eligibility Operations Worker. You will be the first contact for Nebraskans seeking assistance, gathering information and explaining programs to determine eligibility.

DHHS provides structured classroom and on‑the‑job training to prepare you for the role. You’ll learn DHHS systems and policies, support customers through the process, and gain increasing independence applying program rules to help families access

Qualifications

• Minimum qualifications include 24 semester hours of post high school education in behavioral sciences, public/business administration, social sciences, education or closely related field OR related experience.
• Experience with computers and technology to navigate multiple systems or applications and learn new software is preferred.
• Preferred experience in human services, case management, or determining eligibility for financial assistance programs.

Responsibilities

• Serve as initial point of contact for customers via phone or in person.
• Answer questions about DHHS programs, services, and eligibility requirements.
• Complete phone applications and gather information needed to evaluate customer needs.
• Review applications and supporting documentation for completeness and accuracy.
• Interview customers to obtain and verify information for eligibility.
• Enter and maintain accurate customer information in DHHS systems.
• Explain program benefits, rights, and next steps in the eligibility process.
• Provide professional and respectful customer service in a fast-paced environment.
