Job summary

The State of Nebraska is hiring an Eligibility Operations Worker in Seward, NE. This entry-level role supports the Office of Economic Assistance by assisting customers, collecting information, and determining program eligibility.

You will learn DHHS policies, navigate systems, and grow through structured training. Successful candidates communicate well, handle confidential information, and manage multiple priorities while delivering timely, accurate service.

Qualifications

• Minimum 24 semester hours in behavioral sciences, public/business administration, social sciences, education or closely related field OR experience in customer service or eligibility work.
• Experience using computers and technology to complete daily work and navigate multiple systems.
• Experience in human services, case management, or determining eligibility for financial assistance programs.

Responsibilities

• Serve as initial contact for customers by phone or in person.
• Answer questions about programs, services, and eligibility requirements.
• Complete phone applications and gather information for assessing customer needs.
• Review applications and documentation for completeness and accuracy.
• Interview customers to obtain and verify information needed to determine eligibility.
• Enter and maintain accurate customer information in DHHS systems.
• Explain program benefits and next steps in the eligibility process.
• Provide professional and respectful customer service in a fast-paced environment.
