The State of Nebraska is seeking an Eligibility Operations Worker in Fairbury, NE. This entry-level role supports customers applying for OEA programs, answers questions, collects information, and determines eligibility with increasing independence as training progresses.

You will learn DHHS systems and policies, gain hands-on experience, and contribute to timely, accurate service in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

Minimum: 24 semester hours post high school education in behavioral sciences, public/business administration, social sciences, education or closely related field OR experience in customer service, determining eligibility for public assistance, examining/processing financial loan applications, medical or unemployment insurance or rehabilitation claims, unemployment services, OR a combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

Serve as initial point of contact for customers by phone or in person.
Answer questions about DHHS programs, services, and eligibility.
Complete phone applications and gather information to evaluate customer needs.
Review applications, referrals, and supporting docs for completeness and accuracy.
Interview customers to obtain and verify information for eligibility.
Enter and maintain accurate customer information in DHHS systems.
Explain program benefits and customer rights and responsibilities.
Process reported changes and other case information timely and accurately.
Maintain clear documentation of customer contacts and case activity.
