Job summary

Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) seeks an Eligibility Operations Worker in Omaha to assist Nebraskans in accessing services. You will be the first contact, gather information, explain programs, and determine eligibility with increasing independence after training.

Qualifications

24 semester hours of post-high-school education in behavioral sciences, public/business administration, social sciences, education or related field; or equivalent experience in eligibility/customer service.
Experience using computers and technology to complete daily work, including navigating multiple systems.
Experience in human services or determining eligibility for financial assistance programs.

Responsibilities

Serve as the initial point of contact for customers contacting OEA by phone or in person.
Answer questions about DHHS programs, services, and eligibility requirements.
Complete phone applications and gather information to evaluate customer needs.
Review applications and supporting documentation for completeness and accuracy.
Enter and maintain customer information in DHHS systems and explain program benefits.
