Virginia Department of Social Services is seeking an entry-level Self-Sufficiency Specialist I to be trained under supervision while learning to determine eligibility for various social service programs and assess client employability.

Upon successful completion of the training, the position may move to Self-Sufficiency Specialist II with salary opportunities as defined by the local department’s compensation plan. Duties cover Employment Services and Benefits coordination as needed.

Formación

• High school diploma plus related training or work experience; or any equivalent combination.
• Willingness to work under supervision while training.
• Ability to apply agency policies and federal/state laws.

Responsabilidades

• Explains the employment services program.
• Makes assessments of customer needs and develops employment plans.
• Establishes and monitors self-sufficiency goals.
• Monitors case records in accordance with regulations.
• Explains the child care program and assesses needs.
• Processes applications for financial assistance.
• Determines eligibility for assistance and benefit levels.
• Evaluates employability status and explores income sources.
• Maintains client records and prepares reports.
