Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking an entry-level Design Engineer to provide conceptual design for HVAC, plumbing, and related systems, and to perform calculations, drawings, and specifications. You will assist senior engineers, read basic mechanical and plumbing plans, and develop calculations for loads, equipment sizing, friction losses, and hydraulic calculations using CAD and Microsoft Office tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field is required.
• PE license preferred but not required.
• Entry-level role
• Ability to read basic mechanical and plumbing plans.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic knowledge of systems design such as HVAC, plumbing, fire protection.

Responsibilities

• Assist higher-level engineers in design tasks.
• Perform basic calculations, drawings and specifications for HVAC, plumbing, or other systems.
• Perform calculations for heating/cooling loads, equipment sizing, friction and hydraulic calculations.
