Job summary

Southland Industries seeks a Design Engineer I to contribute to design-build and design-assist HVAC projects across healthcare, education, biotech and commercial markets. You will work with model coordinators, estimators and trades to create practical, cost-effective designs.

Responsibilities include basic calculations, drafting in CADD, and coordinating design with project management and architects. A four-year degree is required and PE license is preferred.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of HVAC and plumbing design.
• Ability to read mechanical and plumbing plans.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with CADD and Microsoft Office (Excel).
• Four-year degree required.
• PE license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic deliverables and calculations for HVAC systems.
• Perform basic calculations such as heating/cooling loads and equipment sizing.
• Assist in coordinating all design aspects with project management, architects and trades.
• Perform and check CADD drafting work.
