Job summary

TEKsystems is seeking a Data Center Technician for a contract role based in Madison, MS. You will troubleshoot and resolve hardware infrastructure issues, document solutions, and pass knowledge to junior staff while working with a remote-capable team.

The role requires basic to intermediate system administration skills, the ability to automate tasks with scripts, and to operate onsite with PPE. This onsite position offers standard benefits and the chance to lead small local projects.

Qualifications

• Experience in low-voltage cabling, telecom, data centers, construction, warehouse, manufacturing, or logistics.
• Ability to safely lift and move up to 35 lbs repeatedly.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb ladders for extended periods.
• Ability to read and follow work instructions, diagrams, and SOPs.
• Comfortable working in varying temperatures and wearing required PPE.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Basic computer skills for documentation, ticketing, and inventory systems.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and meet operational deadlines.
• Ability to push, pull, and maneuver server racks, carts, and equipment safely as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Resolve most hardware infrastructure issues and document solutions.
• Create and maintain documentation on supported technologies.
• Pass down knowledge to junior staff and assist team remotely when applicable.
• Automate recurring tasks with scripts where appropriate.
• Serve as initial escalation point for technicians and contribute to local projects.
