Job summary

ASM Research, An Accenture Federal Services Company, Indianapolis, IN, is seeking a junior Cybersecurity Incident Response Engineer to monitor security tooling, detect threats, and perform initial investigations in a highly regulated federal IT environment.

You will triage alerts, assist with containment and recovery, document findings, and help tune detection capabilities while working under guidance from senior analysts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, CS, Cybersecurity, or equivalent experience.
• 0–3 years in cybersecurity or related technical roles with security monitoring.
• Foundational understanding of cybersecurity concepts and SOC role.
• Hands-on familiarity with SIEM, firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, or scanners.
• Active SECRET clearance or ability to obtain and maintain clearance.
• U.S. citizenship required for federal information security.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitor SIEM and security tooling to detect threats and correlations.
• Perform Tier 1 alert triage; validate context and generate tickets.
• Assist with incident response, gather evidence, containment support.
• Document investigations with timelines and sources.
• Maintain familiarity with firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, scanners.
• Follow SOC SOPs and playbooks; provide feedback for improvement.
• Support tuning of rules, use cases, dashboards to reduce noise.
• Collaborate with IT, operations, risk teams to align with policies.
