Job summary

ASM Research, An Accenture Federal Services Company, is seeking a Jr. Cybersecurity Incident Response Engineer to monitor security tools, review events, and assist with containment and recovery under senior guidance. You will perform Tier 1 alert triage, document investigations, and collaborate with IT and risk teams in a fast-paced federal SOC environment.

U.S. citizenship and active SECRET clearance required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in IT, CS, or cybersecurity.
• 0–3 years of cybersecurity or security operations exposure.
• Foundational cybersecurity concepts and SOC role awareness.
• Hands-on familiarity with security tools (SIEM, firewalls, IDS/IPS, EPP, scanners).
• Active SECRET clearance or ability to obtain/maintain clearance.
• U.S. citizenship required for federal requirements.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitor SIEM and security tooling to review events and identify threats.
• Triage Tier 1 alerts by validating context, determining severity, filtering false positives, and creating documented tickets.
• Assist with incident response activities, including gathering evidence and containment under guidance.
• Document investigations with timelines, sources, actions, and handoffs for audit purposes.
• Maintain familiarity with security technologies (firewalls, IDS/IPS, EPP, scanners) and how alerts surface in SOC tools.
• Follow SOC SOPs and playbooks; provide feedback to improve detection and response.
• Tune rules, use cases, and dashboards to reduce noise and improve visibility.
• Collaborate with IT, operations, and risk teams to align monitoring with policies and priorities.
