Job summary

The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company is seeking an entry-level engineer to support project management across DC/Maryland/Virginia sites. You will coordinate with owners, architects, engineers, inspectors and subcontractors, assist with estimates, manage budgets, and help resolve design issues and field problems.

You will also help prepare contracts, review drawings and submittals, and participate in project meetings to ensure quality, safety and on-time completion.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in an Engineering discipline, Engineering Technology or Construction Management, Construction Technology.
• Knowledge of engineering principles.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate work with project owner representatives, architects, engineers, inspectors, and subcontractors; direct trades on site.
• Assist in estimating and bidding; track costs to manage budget.
• Resolve design issues and field problems; review drawings, specs, submittals and change orders.
• Prepare contracts and purchase orders using boilerplate language; document work, schedules, costs, change orders and specs.
• Support project meetings to coordinate work and manage labor concerns; ensure quality and contract compliance.
• Implement project schedules and track milestones; document each phase and ensure safe work site.
• Provide field support to superintendents and review progress across trades.
• Document phase completion and maintain project documentation.
