Job summary

Whiting-Turner Contracting Company is seeking an entry-level engineer to help manage construction projects in Maryland. Reporting to a project manager or superintendent, you will coordinate with owners, architects and trades, assist in budgeting, and help resolve design issues on active sites.

The position offers field support to superintendents, ensures quality and safety, and involves documenting project phases and schedules.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in an Engineering discipline, Engineering Technology or Construction Management, Construction Technology.
Knowledge of engineering principles.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

Coordinate work with project owner representatives, architects, engineers, inspectors, and site subscontractors.
Assist in estimating, bidding processes and tracking project costs.
Resolve and clarify design issues.
Identify and resolve field issues and change orders.
Write contracts and purchase orders documenting work, costs and specifications.
Participate in meetings to coordinate work and manage labor concerns.
Ensure work meets quality standards and contract specifications.
Implement project schedules for completion of tasks.
Document technical, financial and personnel aspects of projects.
Review drawings, specifications, submittals and change orders.
