Job summary

Turner Construction Company in Denver seeks an entry-level Finance Specialist to assist with project accounting tasks and financial data analysis for assigned projects. You will learn construction operations, cost drivers, and contract types while supporting cost reports and audits.

You will reconcile invoices, assist with month-end close, support project billings, and help forecast General Conditions. This role offers growth in a dynamic construction finance environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Construction Management, or related field.
• GAAP understanding and financial processes.
• Interest in cost accounting, construction finance, and project-based financial management.
• Familiar with AI tools for financial analysis and data validation is a plus.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to policies and procedures.
• Highly organized with accuracy and attention to detail.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic environment.
• Limited travel required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with project accounting tasks and analyze financial data for assigned projects.
• Develop foundational understanding of construction operations, contract types, and cost drivers.
• Assist with preparation, review, and audit of Cost reports.
• Identify cost variances, project risks, and compliance considerations.
• Audit and reconcile client bill against general ledger for accuracy.
• Assist with accounts payable transactions through Shared Service Organization (SSO).
• Review vendor and subcontractor invoices for accurate coding.
• Support month-end close activities: posting journal entries and reconciling GL accounts.
• Maintain records of project assets and rentals for insurance documentation.
• Assist with project billings in accordance with contract requirements.
• Monitor accounts receivable status and escalate billing/collection issues.
• Participate in forecasting GR/GCs, staff, and labor projections.
• Participate in site visits to observe finance operations.
• Coordinate with project teams and SSO for data flow.
• Assist with project setup in financial systems and budgeting structures.
• Assist with final cost reconciliation and revenue validation at closeout.
• Support internal and external audit requests.
• Attend team meetings to discuss processes and AI tool integration.
• Other duties as assigned.
