US CareerLink, assisting a Chicago-area civil and earthworks contractor, seeks an entry-level Project Engineer for work near Bradley, Illinois. The role provides hands-on experience with civil construction tasks, earthwork, grading, quantities, drawings, field coordination, and project management.

Ideal for recent graduates in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related fields, with up to two years of experience.

Qualifications

Recent or upcoming bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
Zero to two years of relevant experience; internships count.
Interest in excavation, grading, earthwork, utilities, infrastructure, or heavy civil construction.
Willing to work on-site near Bradley, IL; plan-reading and quantity skills encouraged.

Responsibilities

Support project managers, superintendents, and field crews with day-to-day project engineering tasks.
Review plans, drawings, specifications, and field documentation.
Assist with quantity takeoffs, material tracking, and change-order documentation.
Coordinate field work, subcontractors, schedules, deliveries, RFIs, submittals, and records.
Support grading, excavation, earthwork, utilities, and site construction.
Prepare and maintain daily reports and project documentation.
Communicate with project managers, superintendents, engineers, subcontractors, and crews.
Learn and support construction tech such as Trimble, GPS, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and similar systems.
