Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Department of Human Services, Northumberland County Child Welfare, is seeking a County Caseworker 1 to support children, youth, and families with entry-level social services. You will build connections in the community to help families meet service plan goals.

The role focuses on family support, safety assessments, documentation, emergency response, and coordination with schools, hospitals, police, courts, and community groups.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience as County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college coursework with 12 credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology or related fields; or a bachelor's with 12 related credits; or an equivalent combination including 12 credits and one year paraprofessional case management experience.

Responsibilities

• Family Support: Regular contact with children, parents, and foster parents to address problems;
• Safety Assessment: Interviews, home visits, and meetings to understand referral reasons and safety progress;
• Documentation Work: Prepare forms and maintain case records;
• Emergency Response: Respond to and investigate reports during off-hours on call;
• Community Coordination: Work with social service agencies, hospitals, police, courts, schools, and community groups to meet service plan goals.
