Job summary

State of West Virginia in Cabell County is seeking an entry-level Child Support Enforcement Caseworker. Under close supervision, you will perform initial case processing, learn laws, and prepare case files for the BCSE Attorney.

During a training period you gain knowledge to manage a caseload, with monthly evaluations and a twelve-month probationary period. A Bachelor’s degree or approved substitutions are required to begin this role.

Qualifications

• Entry-level position with formal training to learn child support laws and BCSE policies.
• Substitutions may replace up to two years of training.
• Legal research or interpreting laws experience is acceptable.
• Experience in debt collections, law enforcement, accounting or auditing may substitute for training.

Responsibilities

• Perform beginning level child support case work under supervision.
• Process cases through location, case development, and initial notice to non-custodial parents.
• Prepare case files for the BCSE Attorney.
• Respond to customer service inquiries and resolve simple issues.
• Maintain confidentiality of information.
