Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Paralegal or legal secretarial training program may substitute for two years.
• Full-time or Equivalent Part-time Paid Experience in a legal setting which required performing legal research, reading and interpreting laws, preparing legal documents and assisting in the preparation and assessment of case files under the supervision of an attorney
• in debt collections, credit investigations, criminal investigations, law enforcement, accounting, or auditing
• as an Economic Service Worker or Family Support Specialist
• any combination thereof may substitute for the required training at a rate of one (1) year of experience for every thirty (30) semester hours of training.

Responsibilities

• Performs beginning-level work in processing cases through location, case development, initial notice to non-custodial parents regarding obligation and child support enforcement involvement.
• Under supervision, acquires knowledge to manage a caseload in child support enforcement and to become familiar with agency policy and laws.
• Research legal sources such as statutes, court opinions, rules and regulations, and complies case information by reviewing public documents or gathering information.
• Prepares case files for the BCSE Attorney and responds to customer service inquiries, including resolution of less complex issues.
