Job summary

State of West Virginia's Bureau for Child Support Enforcement is seeking an entry-level Caseworker in Cabell County. Under close supervision, you will perform initial child support case work, assist with locating non-custodial parents, prepare case files for the BCSE Attorney, and respond to customer service inquiries while maintaining confidentiality.

The position includes a training period with classroom and on-the-job instruction designed to develop knowledge of child support laws and agency

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Substitution: paralegal or legal secretarial training may substitute for two years of the required training.
• In a legal setting which required performing legal research, reading and interpreting laws, preparing legal documents and assisting in the preparation and assessment of case files under the supervision of an attorney
• In debt collections, credit investigations, criminal investigations, law enforcement, accounting, or auditing
• As an Economic Service Worker or Family Support Specialist
• Any combination thereof may substitute for the required training at a rate of one year of experience for every thirty semester hours of training.
• Special Requirement: May be required to have a valid driver's license and availability of a vehicle for continuous use.

Responsibilities

• Process cases through location, case development, initial notices to non-custodial parents, and enforcement involvement.
• Research statutes, court opinions, rules; review public documents and interview customers to gather information.
• Prepare case files for the BCSE Attorney and respond to customer service inquiries.
• Maintain confidentiality of information.
