New CDL-A drivers can enter a high-mileage reefer operation with paid behind-the-wheel training before moving into a solo position averaging $1,300-$1,500 per week.
Qualified trainees complete approximately 3-5 weeks and 200-250 hours of paid behind-the-wheel training. North Carolina falls under the $650 per week trainee-pay rate. Orientation lasts no more than two days, with $300 paid upon hire.
After training, a rider program is available for approved passengers and one approved dog under 40 lbs. is permitted.
