Job summary

Bowman in Houston, TX is seeking a Designer I (Structural, Electrical, Mechanical or I&C) to join our team on site. This entry-level role supports engineering projects in the Oil & Gas sector by preparing drawings, schematics, layouts, and related documents under direct supervision.

You will gain proficiency in discipline design principles, industry standards, and company procedures while using CAD software to assist with project execution and deliverables.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Associates or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
• Entry-level position with 0–2 years of relevant electrical design, CAD drafting, or engineering support experience a plus.
• Basic knowledge of CAD software and engineering drafting principles.
• Familiarity with design concepts, drawings, and engineering documentation preferred.
• Proficient in written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Assist with CAD drafting and preparation of drawings, models, and schematics based on established standards, specifications, sketches, and vendor information.
• Support engineers and senior designers in development, revision, and coordination of project deliverables.
• Learn and apply company, client, and industry standards related to discipline and Oil & Gas facility design.
• Support equipment selection activities and preparation of associated technical documentation as directed.
• Participate in design reviews and incorporate feedback from engineers and project team members.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure design consistency and project alignment.
• Perform quality checks on assigned work to verify accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements.
• Maintain project files and documentation per company procedures.
• Support engineering, design, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities through design deliverables and documentation.
• Assist with project scheduling and reporting on assigned tasks and deliverables.
• Participate in project meetings and contribute to discussions on progress and design solutions.
• Complete tasks under supervision while developing technical and professional skills.
