Job summary

QXO, a leading building-products distributor in the United States, is seeking an Account Manager to grow an assigned book of customers across the New Jersey territory. You will expand wallet share, execute plans, and drive retention with cross-functional teams to deliver a best-in-class experience.

You will nurture relationships, conduct site visits, and collaborate with branch operations, inside sales, and customer support to ensure seamless service.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years in outside sales, account management, inside sales, or customer-facing roles.
• Experience in building materials, construction, wholesale distribution, or related industry preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to build relationships and grow accounts.
• Strong communication, organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Comfort using CRM systems, sales tech and data to manage activity and accounts.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Spanish bilingual proficiency is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage and grow an assigned book of existing customers through wallet share expansion and relationship development.
• Execute account plans focused on customer retention, service excellence, and incremental growth.
• Conduct regular customer visits, job-site meetings, and check-ins to understand customer needs and support ongoing projects.
• Partner with branch operations, inside sales, and customer support teams to deliver a high-quality experience.
• Collaborate with Outside Sales Representatives to transition newly acquired customers into managed accounts.
• Participate in joint customer calls and onboarding meetings to ensure a smooth handoff.
• Identify selective new business opportunities through referrals, white space, and customer relationships.
• Align customers with manufacturer partners and vendor resources to support education and project needs.
• Negotiate pricing and terms within company guidelines.
• Utilize CRM and sales tools to manage activity, pipeline visibility, and account documentation.
• Maintain working knowledge of products, programs, and market dynamics.
• Travel regularly within the assigned territory to support customer relationships.
