Qualifications

  • At least three years’ experience in the carpentry trade.
  • Ability to work from blueprints or sketches.
  • Possession of a valid state driver’s license.

Job description

Primary Responsibilities
• Perform all functions of general carpentry work for in-park repairs and installations, providing a safe environment for guests and ambassadors
• Select proper materials for jobs
• Dependable performance in terms of attendance, acceptance of assignments, and strict adherence to all safety policies and requirements
• Teaching fellow ambassadors how to use tools in the carpentry shop safely and in accordance to company standards.
• Assist with the fabrication, installation/strike and maintenance/repair of park scenery, props and decorative materials
• Assist with install/strike of graphic banners and posters
• Assist with the material inventory and ordering processes
• Maintain cleanliness of work areas and vehicles
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements and Competencies
• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
• Must have at least three years’ experience in the carpentry trade or in the carpentry field
• Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Must have basic mathematical skills
• Must have basic construction ability
• Must have cabinet making experience
• Must be able to work from blueprints or in-depth sketches
• Possession of a valid state driver’s license
• Must be able to climb a ladder and work at heights between 6 and 65 feet
• Must be able to stand, bend or kneel for long periods of time
• Must be able to reach, twist and turn with complete flexibility
• Must be able to lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds independently
• Must be able to lift, push and pull up to 100 pounds with assistance
• Must be comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying work environments including but not limited to dark/nighttime conditions, in/around water, in varying weather conditions
• Must be comfortable working around fumes/dust/odor
• Must be comfortable working at heights up to 100ft
• Must be comfortable working around animals
• Must be comfortable with exposure to noise and vibrations
• Must be able to train on and properly use protective gear
• Must be available to work varying shifts or hours based on park hours; i.e. be able to work opening and closing shifts, including weekends and holidays
• Must be able to operate and maintain power and hand tools and other equipment in good safe condition including, but not limited to, table saw, miter saw, band saw, and associated blades

Desired Qualifications
• Experience in mixing and applying latex paint and two-part paint systems – via roller or brush
• Experience in all phases of concrete work, staining, sculpting
• Able to produce documentation, either electronic drafting or by hand, of assigned projects
• Able to drive a forklift or high reach
