Job Summary: The Kitchen Mechanic is responsible for maintaining and repairing back-of-house areas, including kitchens, laundries, electrical, and mechanical systems within a hotel environment. This role ensures the efficient operation and safety of all kitchen equipment and systems, contributing to a seamless guest experience. Candidates must possess a strong background and knowledge of such systems, with previous engineering experience in commercial kitchen equipment and systems, preferably in a hotel setting.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance of all kitchen, laundry, electrical, and mechanical systems to ensure optimal performance and safety.
2. Troubleshoot and repair malfunctions in commercial kitchen equipment such as ovens, dishwashers, refrigerators, and ventilation systems.
3. Maintain detailed logs of all maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and hotel policies.
4. Collaborate with kitchen staff to identify potential issues and implement solutions promptly to minimize downtime.
5. Coordinate with external vendors for specialized repairs and services, ensuring timely and cost-effective solutions.
6. Implement and adhere to health and safety guidelines, ensuring all work is safe and compliant.
7. Maintain an inventory of spare parts and tools to ensure availability for immediate repairs.

Requirements:

• Strong background and extensive knowledge of kitchen, laundry, electrical, and mechanical systems.
• Previous engineering experience with commercial kitchen equipment and systems, preferably in a hotel or hospitality environment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics related to kitchen and mechanical systems.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
• Strong communication skills for effective interaction with kitchen staff, management, and vendors.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Certification or training in relevant fields such as HVAC, electrical, or mechanical engineering is advantageous.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and materials (up to 50 lbs).
• Capability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays.
