Job summary

The Inland Real Estate Group of Companies seeks an experienced Director of Risk Management to lead our enterprise-wide risk program. Reporting to the Chief Risk Officer, EVP, this senior role oversees insurance programs, captive operations, claims management, and key risk initiatives across the organization.

The role requires a strong background in risk management, captive administration, and regulatory compliance, with leadership of a small team and collaboration across business lines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Finance, or equivalent professional experience.
• 10+ years in Risk Management, Claims, Loss Control, Insurance, and Financial Management.
• Experience with captive insurance administration (required).
• Property & Casualty License required (or able to obtain within 1 year).
• ARM (Associate in Risk Management) strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead placement, structure, and ongoing management of complex property & casualty insurance programs.
• Oversee claims management, ensuring effective resolution and cost control.
• Manage a single-parent captive insurance program domiciled in Vermont.
• Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and enterprise risk analyses.
• Support Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) and ESG initiatives.
• Develop strategies for collateral recovery.
• Perform risk-related financial forecasting and support strategic decisions.
• Participate in group P&L reviews.
• Advise leadership on insurance market conditions, coverage optimization, and cost containment.
• Develop and maintain risk management policies and procedures.
• Act as a member of the Cyber Security Incident Response Team and ESG committee.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the risk management team.
• Perform supervisory duties including hiring, performance management, coaching, and disciplinary actions.
• Maintain professionalism and compliance with laws and policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
