Job summary

Kokosing is seeking a Director of Risk to lead enterprise risk management for a large, self-performing heavy civil general contractor with about $3.1 billion in annual revenue. You will shape risk strategies across insurance, claims, contract risk, and loss prevention, partnering with executives, operations, legal, finance, and safety teams.

This role influences enterprise risk decisions, aligns with regulatory requirements, and optimizes total cost of risk while protecting company assets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Business, Finance, Law, or related field.
• 7-10+ years of progressive risk management experience in construction or related industry.
• Designations such as ARM, CRM, CIC, CPCU or equivalent preferred.
• Prior leadership experience in risk management or related roles.
• Strong knowledge of insurance programs, claims handling, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute an Enterprise Risk Management strategy aligned with corporate objectives.
• Oversee design, placement, and management of the company’s insurance program across all lines.
• Establish claims handling strategies and governance to optimize risk and cost.
• Partner with legal and operations to integrate risk transfer in contracts and projects.
• Foster an enterprise-wide risk culture and deliver risk training across teams.
