Job summary

Metropolitan Government of Nashville & Davidson County is seeking an IS Communications Analyst 2- Net Ops to support the enterprise network, applications, and services across Metro departments. The role covers operation, maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting across OSI Layers 1–3 with emphasis on reliability and performance.

The incumbent will work with ITS, vendors, and customers, prepare clear technical documentation, and may require on-site field work and after-hours support as needed.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years of experience in the design, installation and maintenance of communications systems and networks.
• Experience with VLANs, IP addressing and subnetting, DHCP, and L1–3 troubleshooting.
• Experience configuring, supporting or troubleshooting Cisco or comparable enterprise networking equipment using CLI.
• CCNA certification or comparable networking certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Supports network infrastructure, applications, and services for Metro enterprise network environment.
• Performs administrative functions for network support applications, including DHCP and server-based troubleshooting and monitoring tools.
• Troubleshoots network applications and services across OSI Layers 1–3.
• Performs moves, adds, changes, and deletes for network and telecommunications services.
• Gathers and analyzes information to identify problems and develop solutions.
• Coordinates with ITS and Metro departments to support network requirements.
• Participates in network projects, maintenance, upgrades, and other initiatives.
• Prepares technical documentation and communicates to technical/non-technical audiences.
• Maintains awareness of ITS standards and procedures.
• Field i.e., on-site support and occasional lifting up to 35 pounds; travel to various Nashville locations.
• Occasional after-hours work to support critical systems.
