Job summary

Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago is seeking an IT Network Engineer to implement and support our enterprise network infrastructure across campus and internet connections.

You will handle Cisco wired/wireless gear, VoIP, PBX tech, and collaborate with the IT Security team to align with policy and design needs. The role requires a bachelor’s in a related field or equivalent experience, 1–3 years with Cisco and server OS environments, plus desirable certifications and scripting

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in information systems/technology/computer science or equivalent work experience.
• Knowledge of Cisco, HP-UX and Windows server/networking environments.
• 1–3 years with Cisco in an enterprise network."
• 1–3 years with Windows, HP-UX, Solaris or server OS in enterprise networks; 1–3 years wireless tech desired.
• 1–3 years of cable management and IDF/Data Center standards preferred.
• Certification in Cisco, Microsoft or related networking tech is desired.
• Programming or scripting skills to assist in network admin tasks are valued.

Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain assigned network technologies in use at Lurie Children’s.
• Maintain Cisco wired and wireless equipment and software.
• Manage VoIP and PBX technologies.
• Troubleshoot networks using inspection tools and logs.
• Collaborate with the Manager of IT Security for policy/design needs.
• Develop and document procedures for enterprise network infrastructure.
• Monitor performance and capacity, report on metrics.
• Provide on-call support for data center operations.
