Job summary

BMO U.S. is seeking a Senior AI Architect to serve as the singular architectural authority for the AI Engineering function. You will oversee cross-organizational architecture for AI surfaces and ensure governance, coherence, and regulatory defensibility across platforms and workloads.

Responsibilities include defining target AI architectures, guiding Directors and squads, and shaping platform capabilities with an emphasis on responsible AI and model-risk governance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical discipline (Master's preferred).
• 10+ years in software engineering, solution architecture, and enterprise architecture.
• 3+ years focused on AI/ML and GenAI architecture with production GenAI exposure.
• Demonstrated experience holding cross-team architectural authority and aligning stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Define and maintain the target AI architecture for the enterprise: reference architectures, standards, and guardrails.
• Set architectural direction across Directors and squads and across security/devops/data engineering.
• Provide architectural governance for major AI initiatives and present at Architecture Review Board.
• Own architectural coherence of the Microsoft AI surface across operating organizations and governance frameworks.
• Lead assessment of emerging AI capabilities and translate market change into defensible positions.
• Partner with platform teams to ensure adoption of target architecture across capabilities.
• Provide mentorship to architects and engineers to raise architectural capability.
• Establish transition architecture for AI-incubated platforms toward enterprise ownership.
