Job summary

BMO Financial Group seeks an experienced Director to lead Enterprise AI Platform Engineering, owning the governed AI platform, gateway, and registry. You will build and operate a scalable, policy-driven infrastructure across multiple clouds, partnering with Security, Architecture, and DevOps teams.

You will lead a hands-on, build-and-run team focused on operability, regulatory defensibility, and evidence-based governance for enterprise AI workloads.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in technical platform, infrastructure, or AI/ML engineering roles in a large enterprise, including 4+ years leading and managing engineering teams.
• Proven organizational leadership: building and scaling engineering teams from a small core to steady-state, including workforce planning, hiring, succession planning, and squad structuring.
• Demonstrated ability to build and operate platform capabilities at scale (APIs, policy/authorization, identity, observability).
• Strong governance, privacy, and model-risk management awareness for financial services.
• Executive communication and relationship management across technical and senior leadership audiences (written, verbal, presentations).

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve the core infrastructure that governs and enforces how AI runs at BMO.
• Lead and scale a multidisciplinary engineering team, from hiring to steady-state.
• Deliver a production-oriented Developer Portal and federated AI Registry with onboarding workflows.
• Implement policy-as-code and GitOps distribution with a sandbox for policy simulation.
• Provide runtime evidence pipelines and audit-ready traces aligned to regulatory expectations.
