Job summary

BMO is building a dedicated AI Engineering function and seeks a Senior AI Architect to own architectural coherence across cloud and workspace estates (AWS, Azure, M365) with OSFI and OCC regulatory alignment. You will lead architectural decisions for AI Platform capabilities, set direction across multiple teams, and ensure governance for major AI initiatives.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in software engineering, solution architecture, and enterprise architecture.
• 3+ years focused on AI/ML and GenAI architecture, including hands-on exposure to production GenAI systems.
• Demonstrated experience holding cross-team or cross-organizational architectural authority.
• Experience architecting AI in a regulated industry (financial services strongly preferred).

Responsibilities

• Define and maintain the target AI architecture for the enterprise: reference architectures, architectural standards, and guardrails.
• Set architectural direction across Directors and squads and across security, DevOps, Data Engineering.
• Provide architectural governance for major AI initiatives and represent them at Architecture Review Board.
• Own the architectural coherence of BMO’s Microsoft AI surface across two operating organizations.
